The Eagles
Who are we?
We are the Emerson Eagles #12890. We are a tenth-year FIRST FTC robotics team, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our team designs, builds, and programs a robot each year that competes in the First Tech Challenge league events. We also enjoy contributing to our community through various outreach and service activities, such as helping our local animal shelter, and mentoring younger robotics teams.
Our team is student-run. That means that we, the students, make the decisions and do the heavy lifting. When we make decisions as a team, we vote, then make a compromise. That way, all the team members get a say. We have many wonderful mentors who help guide us, and show us how to accomplish the work that we need to do as a team. Our team also tries to learn from our mistakes. During our first year as a team, we focused all of our time and effort on our robot, but we did not spend much time on the engineering notebook. At our competitions, we realized that the engineering notebook is just as important and needed more attention. Our second year, we focused much more on the quality of our engineering notebook. Because of this, as well as the higher quality of our robot, we did better at the competitions. This year, we are focusing on implementing more complicated mechanics on our robot, including mecanum wheels. We hope to always continue learning, growing, improving and having fun!
